About the job

Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. From developing and maintaining our data centers to building the next generation of Google platforms, we make Google's product portfolio possible. We're proud to be our engineers' engineers and love voiding warranties by taking things apart so we can rebuild them. We keep our networks up and running, ensuring our users have the best and fastest experience possible.

Responsibilities

  • Deploy and operate new data center infrastructure across teams.
  • Install, configure, test, troubleshoot and maintain hardware (e.g., servers and its components) and server software (e.g., Google's Linux cluster). Configure components such as networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches and networking protocols.
  • Repair, fix, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment, servers, machines, or infrastructure based on identified issues with multiple solutions, separately. Disassemble specific equipment that has reached its end-of-life via part replacement or maintenance, within one or more teams.
  • Report issues and follow data center procedures to troubleshoot and diagnose issues with equipment or infrastructure as they arise, and apply the resources needed to resolve identified issues.

About us

Google’s mission is to organize the world‘s information and make it universally accessible and useful.

Since our founding in 1998, Google has grown by leaps and bounds. From offering search in a single language we now offer dozens of products and services—including various forms of advertising and web applications for all kinds of tasks—in scores of languages. And starting from two computer science students in a university dorm room, we now have thousands of employees and offices around the world. A lot has changed since the first Google search engine appeared. But some things haven’t changed: our dedication to our users and our belief in the possibilities of the Internet itself.
